URBAN LIFE WAVE 03 2011 HIGHLIGHTS
Here are the results from the third main Urban Life survey of 2011. The lucky winner of the £1,000 prize for this survey is from London. Our lucky prize winner plans to spend their cash on a holiday to New Zealand later in the later.
Remember, anyone who completes at least five main surveys will be entered into the £5,000 grand prize draw at the end of the year, where we’ll pick one winner at random. There are 2 more main surveys to go this year, so keep your answers coming - you’ve got to be in it to win it!
FIFA bribery allegations
Allegations of corruption and bribery within FIFA, football’s world governing body, have been rife since England’s failed bid to host the 2018 World Cup. With resignations and disciplinary action against senior executive members hitting the headlines, it’s no surprise that 92% of you think that FIFA is corrupt. 75% say that the image of football has been tarnished as a result of these on-going allegations.
Next general election: who will you vote for?
Labour remain the most popular political party to vote for in the next general election amongst Urban Life members. Support for the Lib Dems has dropped compared to the previous year with the Green party seeing positive momentum in their favour amongst Urban Lifers.

Motoring
Reliability is the most important factor when Urban Life members are deciding which car to buy. Unsurprisingly, cost is a key influencer, with price and value for money being the second and third most important.
Ford, Volkswagen and Vauxhall are the most popular car manufacturers driven by Urban Life members. Renault and Toyota make up the rest of the top 5.
Green motoring
Just as many of you would consider buying a hybrid engine car as a diesel car; 45% and 47% respectively. Petrol cars remain the most popular engine choice amongst Urban Life members (67% consideration). 1 in 4 of you would consider buying an electric vehicle (EV).
Urban Life members see the main benefits for owning an environmentally friendly car as predominantly cost-savings; greater fuel efficiency and lower/no road tax the top two benefits. However, lower CO2 emissions is the third most recognised benefit, proving that most of you do care about your car’s impact on the environment.
Other green motoring related facts of Urban Life members…
- 42% say they have/am making significant changes to their lifestyle to reduce CO2 emissions
- 55% say they appreciate when car manufacturers make an effort to be more environmentally friendly
- 67% agree that a car’s fuel economy is more important than high performance
- Only 21% know what their car’s CO2 emissions are
