As we mentioned in the ‘Urban Pulse’ section, the new budget plans were laid out on Tuesday 22nd June.
What do you think of the new budget?  Which policies do you like, which don’t you like?  What are the consequences for you and the country as a whole, both short and long-term?  Get it off your chest…

I think the budget is good - they’ve made the best of a terrible situation. I wish people would stop moaning on about it - it’s going to affect everyone in one way or another, unfortunately some more so but Labour gave some people too much in the first place. My only problem with the budget is the cuts that they are making to incapacity benefits/the way they’re handling incapacity benefits but to be completely fair to them these were already being implemented in a Labour government. I work in mental health and see lots of people who genuinely need to claim - lots who’ve been working all their lives but hit a rocky patch and needed some time off work and needed some financial support - whilst under Labour they’ve been subjected to medicals in which their mental health hasn’t even been enquired about, had their benefits stopped as a result and almost all have appealed because this has been based on biased information - the stress that this process has caused these people has been the very last thing they’ve needed. Anyway, went off on a tangent there sorry.

Well I’m just getting on with living my life, I haven’t got time to bother complaining about things I can’t do anything about.  These days I just roll my eyes and get on with it!

It will hurt us a bit, but when the party is over we all have to clear up, even if we didn’t drink.

I was hoping it would be even more swingeing as I want to see that massive Labour built deficit removed as quickly as possible. Then we can look at reducing the debt itself! Even if half the deficit is removed in the next five years, the debt will have doubled and our interest payments will be even more massive.
