There has been a wave of cheating celebrities and sportsmen coming out of the woodwork recently– Tiger Woods, John Terry, and Ashley Cole to name a few.

Are celebs more prone to cheating than the rest of us?  Why does there seem to be more now than ever before?  Is it just now harder to conceal, or has the situation got worse?  Give us your take on the situation…

I don’t think the issue has got any better or any worse, I’m sure it always been like this but the media has got more sneaky or clever and is finding the little weasels out more at the moment!  You can run but you can’t hide!  I find it unbelievable that Sienna has taken jude back after this infidelities, she’s such a mug!

And yeah ok they might have more opportunities to cheat with the lifestyles they lead, but if they were intelligent enough to say no now and again it would save a lot of heartache, I reckon they’re just young boys with over inflated egos!

Sadly this goes on all the time all over the world. It’s just that we all take more interest in it when it’s a celeb up to mischief. At least they aer not getting away with it….even if they get the girl back it’s a tarnished reputation. I can’t stand Tiger now.

I dont think its a case of “celebs cheating more” but more rubbish reporting focuses on things which arent actually news worthy. i frankly couldnt care less who cheats on who in celeb land and wish people in general would stop with the celebrity obsession.

I don’t think they’re more prone, but they certainly have more oppotunites because some people like to chase celebrites. But the fallout if caught is far bigger and a bad reputation is known by far more people.

I also think they have more opportunities - because of their celebrity and wealth, they are more attractive to women.

However, there is the saying ‘work hard, play hard’ - I have thought that there may be some truth to that - that a number of high achievers owe some of their success to playing hard along with working hard.

I do wonder how many ordinary people cheat and the difference between that and the number of celebs. I guess that’s hard to measure though. Some people are genuinely monogamous but I think a lot of people would find it hard to turn down an opportunity to cheat with someone they were attracted to.

They may also have more inflated egos because of their celebrity, so feel entitled.

I think things have got marginally worse as there is now more money involved. The blame should fall on both parties involved, but seldom is the non-celebrity accused of being a marriage wrecker or whatever, they always seem to be portrayed as the victim. These celebs are worth millions, so the celeb chasers are in for a few months/years of good time they wouldn’t ordinarily have and can then sell their stories for more money afterwards. Conversely, the celebs are now in the media fish bowl, so should be more wary as they must know they will eventually get caught. The way I see it is, if you don’t want to get caught, then don’t do it. But then again, “I can resist everything but temptation” ! I feel sorry for the partners of the celebs that do stray.

Really it is just a reflection on a certain part of society, throughout history there have always been infidelities but as somebody posted earlier the media are sneaky and do more digging. This is not meant as an excuse to cover up for the offenders because to be quite frank they are stupid and run around like little boys.

The cult of celebrity has made things like this news worthy in the eyes of the people who want to be so famous they want to know the warts and all of the celeb’s / Sports persons life. The act of adultery even makes people famous now you just have to cause enough of a shock wave and boom you are in the eye of the media who need’s skill or talent. Due to to this there is more enticement for celebs / sports people to cheat but due to the infantile upbringing most of them have they just want all the sweets in the shop rather than thinking about being happy with what they have.

Sorry I think that was a rant rather than a post.

Can anyone think of any female celeb cheaters?  So far just men have been mentioned??!  Are there more of them or are women just better at covering their tracks?

Infedelity has always been around, and whether its concelaed or exposed is entirley up to the discrection of the media.
I doubt its got any worse its just that via technology; the celebs lives are far more accessible and highlighted to everyday people.

The male celebs are no worse than the average broke male, they cheat just as much as each other! Only difference is that the Wags are left with half of their money while us average women are just left with heartache and babies!

Its a lot harder to conceal because the press are always watching and when people get dumped by a married celebrity, its an opportunity for them to make money from the press by selling there story so instead of concealing, they speak to the papers.

I think they are more prone because more people are chasing them and that increases there chances of getting into trouble.

I agree that high-profile footballers are exposed to a lot more temptation than the average bloke. Unfortunately they are also more stupid, arrogant and/or selfish to appreciate the consequences of cheating on their families. They inhabit a world where they are idolised and obscenely rewarded for what they do, something which in the grand scheme of things is insignificant. However at the same time, they are allowed to get away with their behavior by women who would rather be publicly and privately humiliated on a regular basis than lose their wealthly lifestyles (Toni Terry anyone?). What a fine example these people set young men and women - not!

Celebs are not more prone to cheating than other mortals. They just happen to do it in the public eye. With press photographers watching their every move and hangers-on prepared to sell their stories (and with it, their souls) for a few quid, any right-thinking celeb should know better than to err, but they’re only human too.

I don’t think celebs etc are more prone to cheating they are just given more opportunities because of their fame and money, it must be hard to say no especially if you are a celebrity who is immature for their age.

The only way to answer this would be to look at it statistically.  But, that then begs the question, what is a celebrities?  I do think that any celebrity infidelity is more likely to be dragged through the media.  How would half of the weekly magazines or tabloids survive if they had to rely on non-celebrity based news?

The majority of people put in “a celebrity’s” position would do exactly the same.

Admittedly Cashley Cole needs his head testing, as the girl he was having a bit with was a hound compared to Cheryl, but they all do it because it’s offered on a plate & they think they won’t get caught.

There’s more opportunity for them as some women will throw themselves at celebs for their 5 minutes of fame or in some desparate hope that they will become a WAG. Alot of these male celebs, particualarly footballers, believe in the hype about themselves so can’t resist it when someone who they probably wouldn’t stand a chance with if they weren’t famous wants them.

I don’t think they are particularly more or less prone to cheat - it’s just more likely to be discovered due to the probing nature of our paparazzi. As the old adage goes… they’re not sorry they cheated, they’re sorry they caught!
