Please note that by registering as a member of the Urban Life study, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions, and it is your responsibility to read and understand them.

1. Membership to the Urban Life Study

  1.1 The Urban Life study is administered by BMRB International (Ealing Gateway, 26-30 Uxbridge Road, Ealing, London, W2 2BP, Company No. 275304). BMRB manage a small network of partners involved in conducting research the Urban Life Study. These include Lightspeed Research Limited (27 Farm St, London, W1X 6RD, Company No. 03958994) and The Operations Centre (Olympus Avenue, Tachbrook Park, Warwick CV34 6RJ). These companies will hereafter be referred to as "BMRB" and can be contacted by email at helpdesk@myurbanlife.com

1.2 You must be over 18 years old and resident within Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) to register with the Urban Life Study.

1.3 Membership to the Urban Life study is free. Membership is personal to you and is not transferable to any third party. You may only join once. BMRB reserves the right to refuse your membership application. In accordance with scientific market research techniques, we need a specific number of panellists for each gender, age group and region so we may have to refuse applications on this basis.

1.4 Membership entitles you to various incentives, including prize draws, promotions, and other programs provided by BMRB and Metro. Additional terms and conditions will apply to these promotions and offers, and you should monitor the Urban Life website from time to time for details. Details of these promotions may also be emailed direct to you.

2. The Urban Life study

  2.1 You undertake that all information you give in relation to the Urban Life study will be as accurate as possible.

2.2 The Urban Life study and the information, products, and services found on the Urban Life website is subject to change without notice, at any time.

2.3 The views and opinions contained on the Urban Life study website are not necessarily those of BMRB .

2.4 BMRB shall not be liable for any losses, costs, or expenses, howsoever caused, arising out of your membership to the Urban Life study (which includes indirect, consequential, or incidental losses or damages).

3. Your Membership on the Urban Life Study

  3.1 You will be asked to provide a personal email address in order to register with the Urban Life study.

3.2 You will be responsible for ensuring that any and all details held about you by BMRB (including your email address) are kept up-to-date and correct.

3.3 By submitting your application to become a member of the Urban Life study, you agree that if you should win a prize then Metro will be provided with your contact details in order to deliver that prize.

4. Data Protection and Privacy

  4.1 By submitting your application to become a member of the Urban Life study, you consent to BMRB holding, storing, processing, and using the information you submit for the purposes of market research. Your personal details will not be disclosed to any third party without your permission. Please note that information disclosed by you will not necessarily be stored anonymously but will be stored securely. If you do not wish BMRB to use data submitted by you in this way, please do not submit your application to the Urban Life study.

4.2 You are referred to the Privacy Policy of the Urban Life study, which forms part of these terms and conditions.

In summary, the Privacy Policy says the following;
  • We are not trying to sell or promote anything.

  • We will not mislead you about the research, the answers you give us will be Confidential and your co-operation is voluntary at all times.

  • We try our best not to interview children without first getting the permission of their parents.

  • Our web site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control.
5. Termination

  5.1 BMRB may terminate your membership immediately, by notifying you by email if one of the following events take place

    5.1.1 you breach any of these terms and conditions; or

5.1.2 you misuse your membership to the Urban Life study, or use it for any improper purpose; or

5.1.3 BMRB's right to process and use information which is necessary to carry out the Urban Life study is legally withdrawn by law or otherwise; or

5.1.4 on one month's notice by email.

  5.2 If your membership to the Urban Life study is terminated, for whatever reason, all of your entries into members benefits, prize draws, promotions, or other programmes offered by BMRB, will also be terminated, and you will not be entitled to participate in such programmes.

5.3 You may terminate your membership to the Urban Life study on one month's notice by emailing BMRB at helpdesk@myurbanlife.com

6. Changes to and termination of the Urban Life Study

  6.1 These terms and conditions may alter from time to time. BMRB shall notify you by email in the event that these terms and conditions change.

7. Communication

  7.1 Any communication or notices to be given under these terms and conditions shall be by email. You can email BMRB at helpdesk@myurbanlife.com. You are responsible for ensuring that BMRB has your current, correct, up-to-date email address. Notices and communications under this agreement shall be effective and deemed delivered immediately if sent by email to the last known email address of the other party.

8. Jurisdiction

  8.1 These terms and conditions shall be the entire agreement between you and BMRB.

8.2 These terms and conditions shall be governed by English law, and the English courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction, save in respect of enforcement of judgements where their jurisdiction shall be non-exclusive.

9. The Panellists' Web Site (hosted by Lightspeed Research)

  9.1 The Urban Life study website has been put together to comply with English law. It is hosted in the United States of America but is intended to be accessed by residents of Great Britain. All visits to this part of the website shall be governed by English law.

9.2 No permission to copy, reproduce, modify, or download this website (or any part of it) is given other than a single copy for personal use or reference.

9.3 All trademarks used on this website belong to Lightspeed or the registered proprietor of such trademarks. All rights relating to such trademarks, copyright, and any other intellectual property rights are reserved for Lightspeed or the organisation contributing the relevant materials.

9.4 Any information on this website is up-to-date at the time it is posted but is subject to subsequent variation, without notice. The information on this website is also intended for general information purposes only. The views and opinions expressed on the website are not necessarily those of Lightspeed.

9.5 Whilst every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of information on this website, no guarantee is given and Lightspeed accepts no responsibility or liability as to the accuracy or completeness of the information contained within the website, which is provided on an "as is" basis. Lightspeed shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages whatsoever arising out of your use of this website.
