Have Your Say

UK house prices

Houses

With the credit crunch, rising interest rates and falling number of approved mortgages hitting the headlines in recent months, it's no wonder that 77% of you think that UK house prices will fall across the remainder of this year. An optimistic 11% of you believe house prices will rise across the rest of 2008 with the same amount (11%) anticipating no movement. This makes for gloomy (yet understandable) reading compared to when we asked the same question in the first survey of the year, when 33% of Urban Lifer's were anticipating a rise in house prices. Earlier in the year 42% of you were anticipating a fall in property prices, which has nearly doubled a few months on.

Mayor Boris Johnson - the story so far

City Hall

New London mayor Boris Johnson has only had a few months to get his feet under his new desk, yet 45% of London Urban Lifers think he will be a good thing for the city. A minority of 23% don't think mayor Johnson will be good for London, with 3 in 10 London Urban Lifers undecided. Looks like only time will tell.

Angel of the South

The most popular design for the £2 million landmark to be built in Kent - dubbed 'the Angel of the South' - amongst Urban Life members was Christopher Le Brun's 'Wing and Disc' design, with 21% of your votes. However, 34% of you thought all five shortlisted designs were rubbish begging the question whether it should be 'back to the drawing board' for the organisers. In silver and bronze place were Mark Wallinger's 'horse' and Daniel Buren's 'signal tower' designs with 19% and 16% of your votes, respectively.
