Urban Rant

Despite being well into 2008 now, we asked Urban Life members (in February!) what were the best and worst Christmas presents they received last year. Here are just a few of the thousands of entries…

Best Christmas present…

"A trip for two for dinner and theatre in London as I have enough material things and prefer something that I can experience and share, particularly with my partner."

"Being home for Christmas to see my family and friends - oh and my Lost DVDs!"

"Hot air balloon ride, because it's something to do together."

"A huge box of Jaffa Cakes - simply because I love them."

"Remote controlled car as I enjoyed Christmas making me feel like a kid again!"

"10 driving lessons. Having moved out of London to Essex I could really do with being able to drive now I don't have the tube to rely on!"

"A beautiful baby girl. She was a big surprise as we did not know whether she would be a boy or girl and arrived before Christmas. Couldn't get any better than that."

"My boyfriend adopted a penguin for me which lives in Edinburgh zoo. I absolutely love penguins so it was the perfect present. And it means a trip to Edinburgh too!"

Worst Christmas present…

"My Mum gave me a reindeer in a Christmas jumper that sings the wrong lyrics to Jingle Bells when you press the button in its hand. Apart from it being hideous and seasonal... it doesn't even sing Jingle Bells properly. What was she thinking?"

"Football alarm clock. I hate football."

"Furry gloves from my mum, they were hideous and made you look like a gorilla but she liked them so they are now hers."

"Car air freshener, because someone wrote off my car before Christmas and it sucks as a present."

"Microwavable irish coffee - disgusting!"

"My dear husband bought me a DVD of a programme that he likes much more than me! I was not amused."

"Maternity jumper when I'm not even pregnant!"
