Christmas

Nearly all of you celebrate Christmas (94%), though only a third really embrace the festive spirit saying they 'love' Christmas. The festive period is a time of family get-togethers with three-quarters of you spending Christmas Day with family. A traditional Christmas lunch remains a centre point of Christmas Day with 6 people the average number round the dinner table last year - did you share Christmas dinner with more or less people? Urban Life members received more presents than they gave (you lucky lot!), with 12 the average number of presents given last Christmas whereas the average number received was 1 better (13).

Property

The split of Urban Lifers currently living in owned and rented accommodation is fairly even at 47% and 45% respectively. Having a joint/shared mortgage is the most common scenario (31%), with only 2% owning their property outright. Urban Lifers renting with their partner (15%) and having a mortgage on their own (14%) were the next most common living scenarios.

DIY

DIY

On the home-improvement front, Urban Life members appear to be a key part of the DIY phenomenon with 70% having done some sort of DIY. Half of the non-DIYers are not able to Do-It-Themselves due to currently living in rented accommodation. The most popular DIY projects that you are planning in the next 12-months are redecorating more than one room (46%) and a garden makeover (37%), spending an average of £690 and £550 on each project respectively.
