'I can't get no satisfaction'……oh what rubbish Jagger

At a recent conference we were very intrigued by a paper on The Economics of Happiness by scholar Richard Reeves. So we decided wouldn't it be great to gauge how happy you are with your life as a whole these days? We asked you to rate your life as a whole in terms of satisfaction on a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is extremely dissatisfied and 10 is extremely satisfied. On average you all seem pretty satisfied with your lives right now with an average score of 7 and 65% of you giving your life a satisfaction rating of 7 or above.

Organic

45% of you regularly or always buy organic. The top 3 organic products to purchase being vegetables, fruit and meat (including poultry). In terms of quality 56% of you perceive organic produce to be of much or slightly better quality than ordinary produce, rating Waitrose as having the best range of organic produce available.

Food Mileage

A quarter of you regularly check the packaging of fresh produce for the country of origin and 52% of you are more likely to choose British fresh produce over fresh food produced or grown abroad. Over 3 in 10 of you always or mostly buy fresh British produce whilst 2 in 10 try to buy British when in season. A further 6 in 10 of you think that food air miles should be clearly stated on packaging.

Organic Vs Mileage

When polled against each other 29% of you thought that the carbon footprint of your fresh produce was of more importance than whether or not it was organic (19%), whilst 32% of you think that they are of equal importance.

Crime watch

Almost 1 in 10 of you have been at the mercy of muggers in the past 12 months, with the top list of items stolen being:
Mobile (34%)
Purse/wallet (20%)
Money (17%)
MP3 player (8%)
Camera (7%)

56% of you that were unfortunate to suffer at the hands of nasty muggers reported this crime to the police. Meanwhile almost 2 in 10 car owning Urbanites have had their car broken into or vandalised in the last 12 months.
