Political opinion amongst you is changing and at present it appears that David Cameron’s Conservative Party is the party of choice, with 27% claiming to vote for them if there were to be an election next week. The Lib Dems would be second (17%) and Labour in third (16.5%). Opinion on the number one policy issue for the government is to crack down on the level of crime (19%). Get tougher on environmental issues was in second place with 16%. Overall though, 52% of you believe that Britain is a worse place to live than it was 5 years ago, with just 17% believing it to be a better place and 25% thinking it’s about the same.
Big city life
The most positive amongst you about your own city are from the north. Glasgow and Newcastle came out on top when rating nightlife, with 71% claiming it to be ‘first rate’. Bristol was by far the worst city for public transport with 59% stating it to be ‘not great’. Cardiff and Edinburgh easily topped the poll for parks and open spaces with 60% stating ‘first rate’. Glasgow wins for shopping with 78% stating ‘first rate’ and Edinburgh has the best image to the outside world, 3/4 saying it is ‘first rate’. The city where you feel most threatened is Birmingham/Coventry, where almost a quarter often feel threatened by crime.
That’s your job lot
You are content with your own jobs, with 54% of you stating that you really enjoy your job or like it. Just 13% of you dislike or really hate your job. Leaving money aside, you believe the most important things for making a job fulfilling are ‘good people’ (54%), ‘Interesting work’ (50%) and Challenging work (32%). 32% of you have moved companies within the past year, but 31% of you have worked for the same company for the past 5 years. Just under half have a perfect work-life balance (46%), in London the average salary is £36,517 and the rest of the country it’s £22,054 (Compared to the UK average of £16,389).

The 3 things you claim define you as a person are ‘your sense of humour’ (40%), ‘your friends’ (31%) and ‘your lifestyle’ (27%). The body appears to have taken a battering over the past 5 years, with 40% thinking you are less successful with your fitness. Just 22% of you have changed your bank accounts in the past 5 years, 46% have a mortgage and 46% of you have credit card debt. The average house price for those who have a mortgage is £230,826. There is a big disparity between the average London house price (£275,394) and non-London (£157,047). The average amount of money to make you happy is £1.8 million.
