Have Your Say

IRAQ

Tony Blair As you may have read in Metro (2nd May) the majority (59%) of you now feel it is time to pull British Troops out of Iraq. There is a stark contrast between the latest figure and the result from the same question asked exactly two years ago which was 40%. That's a significant shift in opinion and not easing the difficulties faced by the government at the present time.

Bearing in mind this headline result it is not surprising that only 28% of you thought the presence of UK and U.S. was helping to bring about a peaceful solution.

You also feel it is very important the situation is resolved peacefully (68%). With a further 27% thinking it was quite important. This feeling is almost certainly being fuelled by the negative effect that you think will result if Iraq dissolves into civil war.

63% will increase ethnic/religious tensions
57% will increase the threat from terrorism
41% will increase fuel prices
32% will increase economic uncertainty.

Cameron v Brown, a question of character.

David Cameron We know that it's meant to be party policy that matters in politics but character has an influence as well. We asked you about the new leader of the Conservative Party versus the front runner to be the next labour leader.

Again you may have seen the headline result in the paper on the 2nd May, this showed Mr Cameron winning over the Chancellor 39%/35% (with 26% don't know.)

Gordon Brown Men backed Cameron 41% / 36%, women 37% / 34%.

However, Brown won more character approval votes than Cameron from 35-44 year olds, from those outside of London and particularly from you "Lifers" in Scotland.
