The 'Urban Rant' is the final question on each survey, when you can let off steam on a topic we give you. As the first survey this year went live on the 15th February, we thought it would be fitting to make the rant topic VALENTINE'S DAY!
We asked: "Is it just a cheap commercial trick or a really special opportunity to celebrate your romance? Does it make you feel lonely if you don't have a partner or is it just a hassle trying to find a suitable present for the other half? Or you could simply tell us you best or worst ever Valentine's Day experience!" Here's just a choice few comments....
OPINIONS OF VALENTINE'S DAY
"It should be abolished, couples should "use" their anniversaries and/or everyday life to show each other how much they love the other person, not inflict it on everyone else. Also mainly for marketing purposes, I cannot believe so many people fall for it - it's not like it's a holiday or something!"
"A really romantic day. And a lot of fun sending cards to ones you fancy and or friends to cheer them up"
BEST VALENTINE'S STORIES
"Woke up with a valentines card on the pillow next to me, then walk through to the other room (following tea light candles on the floor) then to see my partner sitting in the chair with a bunch of flowers in one arm, and a box/Ring in his hand"
"Being cooked an amazing meal by my boyfriend that involved him getting up at 6am in the cold and travelling for 1 1/2 hours(with a stonking hangover) just so he could get the freshest fish from Billingsgate Market. He also make pineapple rice, served in the hollowed-out pineapple - just as we'd had in Thailand a few months before. this was all particularly thoughtful considering he needs sat-nav to locate the kitchen normally!"
WORST VALENTINE'S STORIES
"Not having a partner in the past, but I got a valentine card through the post (with a question mark as a signature) Got my hopes up, wondering who it was, to find it was a practical joke off my brothers. Feeling down all day"
"Being given flowers by an ex partner then realised they still had the purple ribbon on them from the cemetery, it was part of a wreath!! the air was very blue!!!!!!!"
