Have Your Say

2007 review

Lewis Hamilton

A look back over 2007 kicked off the final survey of the year. We asked you who you thought the icon of 2007 would be. Lewis Hamilton was top by some distance with 16% of the votes. But correctly guess the BBC Sports Personality of the year, you did not. Lewis Hamilton was picked by 65% of you as probably going to win, however just 33% thought he should. Only 2% thought the actual winner Joe Calzaghe would do so, but 10% thought he should. Heartening to know that more thought he should than would!

City by city

Ashton Court

How about your own individual cities in the last 12 months? What were the best and worst things to happen? Apart from the usual city gripes such as increased traffic and violence, there were some very specific city related responses. One of the worst things to happen to Bristol was the end of Ashton Court Festival, whereas in Cardiff the regeneration of the city centre is both a good thing and a bad thing (like a building site). Winning the Commonwealth Games came top for Glasgow, but the terrorist attack at the airport was the worst. As for Manchester, one of the worst things was the death of Tony Wilson and the one of the best was the Chill Factore opening up. As for Londoners, the 02 Centre, the renovation of St. Pancras station and the Olympics regeneration were the top things. General crime level and also the Olympics regeneration were the worst.
